Introducing Simon Wellings

Posted on 13/May/2019

Stormwater Management Ltd would like to extend a warm welcome to Simon Wellings. Simon has recently joined our team as Technical Sales.

As a key member of our sales team Simon will be building strong relationships with our customers by assisting them on a daily basis. Within his role he will soon be offering CPD seminars and visiting our customers and project sites to assist with technical enquiries.

We asked Simon a few questions about himself…

  1. What experience/education do you have within this industry?

I have 27 years within Aggregate Industries working upon different disciplines for “Masterblock”, “Bradstone” and “Charcon”. I started as an Office Manager responsible for Building Block, Flag & Kerb and Concrete Pipe sales.  I then focused on building blocks and included external sales within the role before becoming Territory Sales Manager.  I worked for Charcon as Specification Manager for several years – enjoying working with Landscape Architects, Consultant Engineers and Local Authorities.

  1. What made you join Stormwater Management Ltd?

From the initial interview, the Company and importantly the people working here, showed me that this is a remarkable and enviable employer.  Working here is a refreshing and enlightening experience – I am looking forward to the challenges ahead and growing with the Company.

  1. What do you enjoy the most about what you do?

At the moment I am literally starting out on my journey and enjoying every moment.  I am looking forward to building relationships with our existing customers and new customers alike.  Quite simply people matter in any walk of life and the commercial arena is no different.

  1. How would you describe yourself?

Dedicated, determined, well balanced and committed.  I believe in courtesy and good manners in any environment.  Having said that, don’t take things too seriously and like a good laugh.

  1. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Despite my years, I am an avid bass guitarist playing in a local band.  I had my first guitar when I was eight and I’m still at it!  I also enjoy the Great Outdoors – especially walking coastal paths when I can. Otherwise it’s the Peak District hiking.

  1. What is your favourite film?

I am a bit of an old softie – It’s A Wonderful Life, directed by Frank Capra.  The title itself is very meaningful!

  1. What is your favourite meal and where is the best place to eat it?

I prefer the likes of a good steak, cooked at home or a Domino’s Pizza

  1. And anything else you’d like to add

I am a volunteer for the Anthony Nolan Trust and was pleasantly surprised to see how much charitable and community support is given by the Company – fantastic!
