Surface water management specialist, Stormwater Management Ltd, will be unveiling two new high performance source control solutions together with a new innovative, in-situ cast concrete attenuation tank system at this year’s IWEX Stand G3.

Complementing the company’s existing range of leading infiltration and volume control products, the new additions extend its capabilities in these two important areas of run-off management ahead of the introduction of new National Standards for sustainable drainage (SUDS) later this year.

The D-Rainclean™ bio-remediation channel and Re-Medi8™ engineered filter media are new infiltration source control solutions that offer class-leading removal of Total Suspended Solids (TSS) and dissolved heavy metals from contaminated run-off.  Meeting the discharge quality standards of the Water Framework Directive, both are ideal for all highways and car park applications.

D-Rainclean is a modular system that comprises a robust 500mm long porous polypropylene channel fitted with a cast iron inlet grating rated to Load Class D400.  Each section is filled with a unique engineered bio-remediation media that cleans surface water as it passes through the filter layers, degrading and diffusing hydrocarbons and dissolved heavy metals like copper and zinc.

Stormwater Management’s new naturally engineered  bio-remediation soil, Re-Medi8, is an effective treatment medium for a wide range of soft or hard engineered sustainable drainage systems such as swales, infiltration basins, bio-retention pits and rain gardens.  It’s unique structure and composition – which captures suspended solids, adsorbs dissolved heavy metals and breaks down hydrocarbons – also contains sufficient nutrients to sustain a variety of water tolerant plants.

“With maintenance of SUDS schemes a key issue, the fact that these systems require only very minimal attention over their long 10-20 year operating life makes them a very attractive, low-cost proposition for adopting authorities,” says Neill Robinson-Welsh, Technical Sales Manager at Stormwater Management Ltd.  “They are also extremely adaptable and can easily be incorporated into new build or be retrofitted into existing SUDS schemes where runoff quality is an ongoing issue.”

Elevator® Tank is a new innovative plastic former system that creates an ‘adoptable’ in-situ concrete storage tank for stormwater attenuation.  Its patented design, which allows it to be configured to virtually any catchment, provides an effective, low-cost method of constructing a high load-bearing storage void with a floor-to-ceiling open structure – a feature that greatly simplifies access for inspection and maintenance.

Manufactured from lightweight recyclable plastic, Elevator’s modular design makes it easy to handle, simple to store on site where there is often limited free space, and quick to install.  The internal structure of the completed tank also removes the potential for silt build up or blockage which could affect the long-term functionality of a stormwater storage system.
