Elevator In-situ concrete attenuation tank

Posted on 5/Sep/2019

Stormwater Management Ltd were looking back on previous projects and came across one of our personal favourites. Elevator in-situ concrete attenuation tank Case Studies – Craighouse, Napier University.

With this project the engineers working for the main contractors had concerns over the suitability of a geocellular attenuation system due to the ground conditions and site topography, they were looking for a system that was robust, value for money and complied with Sewers for Scotland 3rd edition (SfS).

The Elevator in-situ cast concrete attenuation system was selected as it met all of the above criteria as it was simple to design, but importantly, provided full access for inspection and maintenance which is a fundamental requirement for Scottish Water if they are to adopt any asset.

Stormwater Management provided design assistance to the contractors nominated consulting engineers Goodsons, who designed the system to Eurocode 2. The Elevator system was simple and easy to lay, and vastly reduced construction time compared to traditional in-situ concrete tanks.
